Barcelona’s ban on the upcoming season of the Champions League is still in confusion as it is not fully confirmed yet whether the Catalan giants will be out of the European championship, and UEFA is going to decide the same by June. The governing authority of European football is looking forward to their investigation into Barcelona, and a particular decision will be made soon.
The President of the UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, told the press that the Nigerian case was among the most serious situations that he had ever seen in football. The governing authority, i.e., the UEFA, have opened an investigation that could bring serious consequences for the club, even including a serious suspension from the European competition if it ultimately gets proven that they have tried to influence matches.
UEFA to give a verdict
Reports state that they have internally decided that they want to give a verdict regarding the same soon. If the UEFA decides to give a punishment to Barca, which the club disagrees with, then the likeliest option for the authority is to go through the UEFA Court of Appeals, followed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to appeal their sentence. Hence, if the process comes further to this, concerning that, UEFA wants to complete this process as soon as possible.
They are planning to get the process done before the start of the current season, whereas upholding a suspension will be way more difficult if that current season commends. Reports earlier have stated that Barcelona will sue the governing authority of European football should they attempt to exclude the club before justice has run its course. In that case, the lawsuit can be worth 100 million dollars. It is to be seen what happens between the parties.
