Zombie games can still pique consumers’ interest and expectations these days, but they must produce something new, unusual, and/or of unrivaled quality. In the present era, more games, both AAA and indie, are released than ever before. now a little tired of it, it’s a post-apocalyptic scenario that returns in waves. It’s been that way since George A. So here are some zombie games to look out for in 2023: —
The Resident Evil 4 remake
The Resident Evil 4 remake, a complete reimagining of the original 2005 survival horror game, is now available on consoles and PC, following Capcom’s previous Resident Evil updates. Following the somewhat stand-alone remake of Resident Evil 1, we received the fantastic Resident Evil 2 remaster. Following that, we got a solid, though a little short, remaster of Resident Evil 3. While many hoped Capcom would revive Code Veronica next, most expected the publisher to heed the siren’s call and return to Resident Evil 4.
State of Decay 3
Undead Labs appears to be a game developer on a mission to create an unforgettable zombie game experience in the realm of video gaming. Their first foray into the genre was a low-budget arcade-style zombie game that, despite its many faults and difficulties, grabbed the hearts of fans. State of Decay 2 continued the series with a game that felt more polished but still felt like a learning experience.
Dead Space Remake
Dead Space, released in 2008, was EA’s sci-fi spin on Resident Evil 4 from 2005. Dead Space is simpler to appreciate on its own merits fifteen years later, with so much more distance from Mikami’s game. This update from EA studio Motive is a surprisingly conservative affair, rejecting the desire to add modern adornments to the game. Instead, it simplifies the experience by changing the layout of the doomed spaceship USG Ishimura so that players can navigate through it and its numerous horrors more easily. It’s a remake that embraces the original’s precise rhythm and powerful forward drive, and it benefits from it.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl
When S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl was announced in 2018, gamers were eager to dive back into the world of a series that had established a cult following on PC with the release of the original game. The sequel was planned to be released in late 2022, but owing to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Kyiv-based studio GSC Game World was forced to relocate to Prague, Czech Republic. Because of their situation, it’s realistic to assume that anything and everything is on the table, but fans are hoping to play the game in 2023.
Dying Light 2 Story DLC
It’s unknown what the next major piece of downloadable content for Dying Light 2 will be, but developer Techland has stated that the game’s post-launch schedule will include a significant DLC release before the end of 2023.
Even though Dying Light 2 received mixed reviews, largely labeling it as an entertaining time that wasn’t original or pushing the gaming medium forward in any dramatic way, it still has a following of players eager to return to its world of the undead.
