The very fast WPL auction has wrapped up with five franchises bagging Rs. 59.5 crores on 87 players. Royal Challengers Bangalore paid a mammoth Rs. 3.4 crores for Smriti Mandhana, making her the highest-paid woman cricketer. Smriti Mandhana highest paid woman cricketer; Ashleigh Gardner highest paid overseas player
Smriti Mandhana became the most expensive woman player, making it celebratory news among her fans. Gujarat Giants offered Rs. 3.2 crores for Ashleigh Gardner, which also marks her as the most expensive foreign player.
The opening WPL auction ceremony also saw some economic buys. MI shelled out Rs. 1.8 crores to pick up the Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur. RCB paid Rs. 18 crores, too, to buy Ellyse Pyre.

Overall, out of the 87 auctioned players, 20 managed to cross the one crore price tag. Under-19 World Cup winners Shefali Verma and Richa Ghosh landed great rates. Verma went to DC for Rs. 2 crores, and RCB bought Richa Ghosh for Rs. 1.9 crores.
