N’Golo Kante is undeniably one of the finest central midfielders of the present day. Since his debut season at Leicester in 2015/16, he has been exceptional with a pretty attractive trophy cabinet. Kante has two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Europa League. Most importantly, he has the massive World Cup win with France on the list. An impressive collection like that is truly incredible! Also with him Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bryune are currently among the best midfielders in the world.

His brilliant performance with Chelsea in the 2020/21 campaign, helped the club land its second-ever Champions League title. He earned the Man of the Match award in the finals against Manchester City. However, despite his excellent brilliance last season, Kante has been given the seventh rank in the list of the best central midfielders of the world by FourFourTwo.

The publication has named the ten best footballers playing in the role according to their belief, which was hard for them to list down. Check out the list given beneath:

    7: N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)

    8: Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City)

    9: Leon Goretzka (Bayern Munich)

    10: Marcos Liorente (Atlético Madrid)

Some Controversies regarding the sequence of the list

There might be a slight controversy for placing Fernandes ahead of Bruyne. But, his goal record for the last 12 months or so has been phenomenal that makes it understandable. The stunning Real-Madrid trio Luka Modric, Casemiro, and Toni Kroos miss out, as do Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Liverpool’s Fabinho.

The 10 man list is indeed tidy but fans might find it hard to digest Kante’s seventh rank after he had an outrageous last season! Perhaps, while preparing a rank list for footballers, it’s merely impossible to always please everyone!
