Virat Kohli stepping down as the Indian skipper in T20 has been the talk of the town over the last few days. The internet got divided with mixed opinions from fans all across the world. Now there are speculations regarding Kohli resigning as the RCB captain in IPL.
The right-handed star took over the responsibility of his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2013. Though he has been excellent with the bat, captain Kohli is yet to earn his team the maiden IPL title. Since he has decided to step down as the Indian T20 captain citing workload, debates are on regarding his IPL captaincy. Many people have questioned whether he will give up on IPL captaincy as well after IPL 2021. Mega auction is set to be held in 2020.
RCB under Virat Kohli
RCB has had a mixed time under skipper Kohli. They record the highest ever score of massive 263 against the Pune Warriors India. Again, they also posted the lowest-ever total of 49 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite getting into the playoffs and finals several times, the team has failed. Batsman Kohli has been phenomenal with the bat, and he is the top scorer for the tournament. However, the dream to win the trophy is yet to be accomplished.
Questions have been thereafter every IPL season whether he should continue as the skipper anymore. Even the former Indian batsman and legend Sunil Gavaskar was surprised after Kohli decided to resign as the Indian captain and stay as the RCB captain.
Trust towards VK
The RCB management has shown immense trust in Kohli’s captaincy since 2013 and stayed stern in their decision not to remove him as the captain. After the first half of IPL 2021 which was postponed considering the Covid scenario, RCB is in third place in the point’s table. The second half will be commencing from the 19th of this month.
