Tom Brady’s Potential NFL Comeback: Ownership Hurdles and Teams in Consideration
During an episode of DeepCut released on April 11, host VicBlends posed a question to Brady: ‘God forbid somebody goes down, would you pick up that phone?’
“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady responded. “I don’t know if they’re gonna let me be an owner in an NFL team.”
Brady’s reference is to his minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. In 2023, he reached an agreement with franchise owner Mark Davis and acquired part ownership of the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA.
Before answering, VicBlends and Brady discussed potential teams that could reach out for his services, including the Patriots and Raiders.
Although his ownership could present a hurdle to a potential comeback, Brady emphasized that he will always maintain his physical readiness to compete.
“I’m always gonna be in good shape. I’m always gonna be able to throw the ball,” Brady added. “To come in for a bit like MJ (Michael Jordan) coming back – I don’t know if they’d let me, but I would not be opposed to it.”
Brady spent 20 seasons and won six championships during his illustrious tenure with the New England Patriots. He then moved to Tampa Bay, where he guided the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory in 2021.
After completing his second season with the Bucs, Brady initially announced his retirement before reversing his decision in the same offseason to have another shot in the NFL. Following a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round, the quarterback declared that he is retiring “for good.”
Tom Brady Tips Josh Allen for Future Super Bowl Success Despite Chiefs’ Challenge
Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady has named Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen as his pick for the next signal caller to win his first Super Bowl.
While Allen has yet to play in a Super Bowl, his tenure as the Bills’ starting quarterback has been marked by significant success. Buffalo has reached the postseason for five consecutive years and secured the AFC East title in each of the last four seasons.
However, Brady cautions that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs stand in Allen’s path to Super Bowl victory, as the Chiefs have eliminated the Bills from the playoffs three out of the last four years. Buffalo’s postseason journeys have consistently ended in the AFC Divisional round, with the team reaching the final eight teams standing in the NFL.
Allen’s closest brush with a Super Bowl came during the 2020 season when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Bills 38-24 in the AFC Championship game, dashing the 27-year-old’s championship aspirations.
“I like Josh Allen a lot,” Brady remarked on the DeepCut Podcast when asked about the next first-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. “I’d pick Josh. I like Josh a lot as a guy, as a leader. But, you know, he’s got to get past the Chiefs, and that’s hard because Patrick’s incredible in the way he leads that team.”
The Allen-Mahomes rivalry has been notable, including the January 2022 game that prompted the NFL to adjust its overtime rules for the playoffs. The latest matchup between Mahomes and Allen occurred this past season, with the Chiefs defeating the Bills in the Divisional round in Buffalo, where Taylor Swift was in attendance.
Aside from his on-field performance, Allen has also garnered attention for his relationship with his celebrity girlfriend, Oscar-nominated actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.
