Serbian and the world’s number 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic won his appeal against the decision made by the Australian Government regarding refusing his visa, on Monday. In addition to that, the reason behind his visa cancellation being overturned is now revealed. Djokovic arrived at Melbourne last week with the motive of preparing for the Australian Open, and initially, he was granted a COVID19 vaccine exemption, as he recovered from the infection last year in December.

In the court, Novak Djokovic’s tea argued that cancelling the visa of the player was certainly very unreasonable and Anothony Kelly, the Judge agreed with the same. Eventually, he overturned the decision, which would have stopped him from playing the tournament, i.e., the Australian Open that kicked off on January 17, 2022.

    Rule of Anthony Kelly

Judge Anthony Kelly said that the visa cancellation of Novak Djokovic was certainly unreasonable. The 34-year-old tennis player wasn’t given enough time that he can respond to the notice of cancellation. Novak Djokovic was told Thursday morning at 5:20 that he could have until 8:20 to administer comments in response to a notice of intention to consider his visa cancellation under the Migration Act of section 116.

Djokovic’s responses were requested at 6:14, however, the Border Force official decided at 7:42, hence Djokovic was denied until 8:30 to execute his comments. Had Novak Djokovic allowed until 8:30, Anthony Kelly said that he could have consulted others as well as have presented arguments, concerning why his visa should not be cancelled.

Novak Djokovic set for the Australian Open

Being free from all problems, Djokovic is now set to perform on the Australian Open where he has been brilliant for years. Also, he has a great possibility to beat both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in terms of having the most number of grand slams. All three of them are currently on number 20.
