The Indian Men’s hockey team defeated Germany at the Tokyo Olympics and emerged victoriously with the bronze medal, on Thursday, at the Oi Hockey Stadium. The Indian hockey team won the Olympic medal that came after 41 years. It became more memorable as it came at the Olympics.
Initially, India was trailing by 2 goals, when the score was 3-1. But they had a terrific comeback in the game, and won the match by the score of 5-4, ending the 41 years of medal drought. The last time the Indian Hockey team won a medal in Olympics was back in 1980, which was even a gold medal.
The match consisted of a total of 9 goals, with 4 for Germany and 5 for India. The Indian goal scorers are Hardik Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, with 1 goal, and Simranjeet Singh netted two goals.
The performance brought by the Indian Hockey team
The Men in Blues showed their absolute strength and resilience to mark their phenomenal comeback against a strong contender like Germany. However, Germany was not far away and continued to pressurize India with a series of penalty corners. However, the Indian defence team also did their work well, in the first quarter.
In the second quarter of the game Germany, was a bit better in the first minutes, as they got the 3-1 lead. However, this was the time when India was striking back, and equalized with Germany with a score of 3-3.
In the third quarter of the match, India was way better and got a 2 goal lead against the Germans. Though Germany stroke back with another goal, making the score of 5-4. But the Indians assured that Germany won’t score a single goal more, and sealed their victory by their performance.
