Sony is advising its investors to anticipate a significant increase in PC gaming revenue in the following year. One slide in a business sector briefing for shareholders highlighted Sony’s PC game net sales thus far, showing how titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and God of War brought in $80 million in the previous fiscal year (which concluded on March 31, 2022).
However, the gaming behemoth expects even more in the future fiscal year, with net sales on PC expected to reach $300 million in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023. That’s a significant leap, especially for a gaming hardware company that has just recently begun to seriously consider entering the PC market. Furthermore, it is unclear where that chunk of change originates. The only PC game Sony has revealed so far is Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which has yet to receive a release date.

We don’t know how much money Bungie makes because it’s privately held, but analyst Michael Pachter estimates it’s roughly $200 million per year across all sources (including console, merchandise, and more)
However, Sony’s PC ambitions are likely to expand beyond Bungie. According to a graphic later in the presentation, Sony anticipates 15 percent to 20 percent of its next releases to be on PC, with that proportion rising to closer to 30 percent by the end of 2025. There are also its recent actions, such as the launch of the PlayStation PC brand and reports that many of PlayStation’s internal studios are interested in porting their games to the platform. So far, that interest has paid off for PC gamers, with God of War running smoothly on most systems.
