The meltdown between Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez and the Mexican national team dates back to 2018 when El Tri players decided to throw a party just before a friendly in Denmark. It was the last friendly match before the World Cup in Russia, and the players also celebrated Chicharito’s birthday.
However, the national team’s internal rules were broken when several guests, including friends and acquaintances of the players, informed the press about everything that happened at the party.
When Gerardo Martino, the Mexican national team coach was inquired as to why the LA Galaxy was not included in the latest roster, he responded by saying it was a personal decision. “Javier is not in this roster because we [the coaching staff] decided to call four other strikers with different qualities. But this doesn’t mean he will never be called again.”
“If a player has been punished for breaking any rules established by the federation, I will never talk about it in public or comment about it to the media. This is something that will be discussed internally,” he added.
Additionally, the current head of security for the Los Angeles Galaxy Forward took pictures of the participants before sending these snaps to the press to discuss their experiences.
As stated by one of the attendees to MedioTiempo, “These people were not allowed access, but they went to his truck and from there began to take pictures with their cell phones, the same ones that later appeared in a magazine.”
Chicharito seems to have been the victim
After Chicharito’s security team leaked all the information to the media, Chicharito was somehow picked off and realized that members of the team were starting to distance themselves from him.
In addition, the player missed several appearances for the national team in 2019, which coach Tata Martino did not like at all.
Martino has already said he has no veto power over Chicharito, but the reality is that it has been three years since the player last played for Mexico, and his last match was against the United States.
