    Ross Taylor announces retirement from International Cricket

    Kiwi Legend Ross Taylor is retiring from international cricket. He has been the most prolific batter of New Zealand across all formats, who debuted 15 years back in 2006. And at present, he has registered 18,074 runs to his name in 445 appearances, which is the most by anyone in the country.

    He will officially retire from cricket after New Zealand’s upcoming test series against Bangladesh and six ODIs against Netherlands and Australia next year. The 37-year-old superstar said that it has been an honour to represent New Zealand, and also thanked fans to support him throughout his cricket journey.

    Ross Taylor tweeted that today he is announcing his retirement from international cricket after home summer, with two more test matches against Bangladesh, as well as six one day internationals against Australia and Netherlands. He showed his gratitude to all who were with him in his 17 years-long journeys.

    Ross Taylor has plenty of contributions for New Zealand cricket as well as in the New Zealand cricket team. He is the first player to make 100 international appearances in all three formats. He also stated that it has been an amazing journey and he feels very fortunate to represent his country as long as he wished to. It has been a privilege to perform against some of the greats and legends of the game and to create so many memories as well as friendships in this journey.

    However, all good things come to an end one day, and the timing feels right for him, he added at the end. Gary Stead, the head coach of the New Zealand cricket team thanked Taylor for his contributions to the team and said that he has always been a hugely respected member of the Kiwi side and his contributions to the Black Caps has been massive.

    New Zealand captain Kane Williamson also commented in this regard stating Ross Taylor as a “World Class Player”, and said that their best with the bat over such a long time and personally it has been a pleasure to be involved in so many partnerships with Taylor across all formats.

    Ross Taylor holds numerous records as a New Zealand batsman, including most test runs which are 7,548, most ODI runs, which is 8,581, most ODI centuries, which is 21, and most centuries across all formats, i.e., 40.
