Legendary John Madden, who is one of the top NFL contributors in the history of the tournament passes away at the age of 85 on Tuesday. NFL Twitter accountant states that John Madden will be ever-remembered as a coaching legend, and a broadcast icon who was loved by football fans situated everywhere.
NFL Commissioner said in the statement that on behalf of the entire family of NFL, they extent their condolences to Mike, Joe, Virginia and their families. He also added that they all knew him as the Oakland Raiders Hall of Fame Coach as well as a broadcaster who worked for every major network. Also, which is more than anything he was even a good husband father and grandfather as well.
John Madden is the National Football League (NFL)
John Madden had his first inclusion in the NFL in 1958, when he was selected in the draft by Philadelphia Eagles in the 21st round. However, in his first training camp, he faced a knee injury and was not able to play one game as a pro offensive lineman.
He did numerous coaching jobs, and got his first NFL coach job opportunity in 1967, by Raiders owners Al Davis. He was named as the head coach of the team on 1967, February 4, at the age of 32, following the departure of John Rauch. By that, he became the youngest to hold that prestigious position in professional football. Being the head coach of the Raiders, he gave the team a winning identity for 10 long seasons and also assisted them in winning the Super Bowl XI.
Also, he was present in the three iconic moments of the league including the Sea of Hands, Immaculate Reception, and Holly Roller, which lives forever in the NFL fans’ memories.
A Great Broadcaster
His legacy didn’t end in the pitch football world, but he was also known for his works in broadcasting. He has the most important figure in the broadcasts of the four most essential networks of tackle sport, including Fox Sports, CBS, NBCA, and ABC. He is also a 16 Time Emmy Award Winner for his work.
Losing such a legend is certainly a great loss in the football world. Rest in peace John Madden, the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, class of 2006.
