Portugal defeated Israel with a 4-0 win and completed their European Championship, where the Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo scored another of his international goal.

Portugal scored two goals in the last phases of each half, where CR7 inserted his name in the second one of the first half, and moved one step further in men’s all-time most international goals scores, along with a few steps away from Ali Daei’s record. The Juventus star scored his 104th international goal in his 175 appearances, only 5 goals away from the Iranian’s unique record, which is 109.

Ronaldo netted the goal in the 44th minute

Though Portugal was performing well but took a while to get their first goal, i.e., in the 42nd minute, by Bruno Fernandez, the Manchester United midfielder. Ronaldo just did the same after two minutes, in the 44th minute.

Though Portugal was ahead by 2 goals, they scored in the first half, but the starting part of the second half was a bit frustrating for the European Champions. Till the first 40 minutes in the second half, no goals came from them, and then Joao Cancelo handled the business for his club, by scoring the third goal in the 86th minute. Soon after that, Fernandez showed his efficiency again and netted his second and fourth goal of the match in the stoppage time.

    Portugal’s upcoming challenges

Though at times the game was becoming disappointing, Portugal showed their dominance in the match. After emerging victoriously in the friendlies match versus Israel, Portugal will kick off their UEFA EURO season on Tuesday, against Hungary. The so-called “Group of Death” in the European Championship, will also face Germany and France on 19th and 24th June respectively.

With 10 matches left for Portugal this year, it is expected that Ronaldo will break the all-time men’s most international goals record soon. Also, Portugal is looking forward to playing in the World Cup qualifiers efficiently, and end the year on a high note.
