Royal Challengers Bangalore picked up a good win against Rajasthan Royals who faced their first defeat of the season. Credit goes to the batting of Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik, for whom RCB was able to emerge victoriously. RR put up a score of 169 with the loss of 3 wickets with the help of Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer, scoring 70 of 47 and 42 of 31 respectively, but in the end, it was the Men in Red who were able to chase down the score. Here are three facts that helped RCB to gain the victory.
Dinesh Karthik playing a speedy inning for RCB
As discussed in the first paragraph, Dinesh Karthik played a stormy inning from the beginning and scored 44 of only 23 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. Before that, the equation for RCB wasn’t that easy. He came and played the role of a finisher, and alongside him youngster Shahbaz Ahmed played a handsome knock too, of 45 of 26 balls with 4 fours and three sixes.
Sanju Samson not bringing in Chahal early
It is known that Chahal has good stats against Dinesh Karthik and has got his wicket on multiple occasions. However when Dinesh Karthik came to bat at first, the RR skipper didn’t give him to bowl, and in return, Karthik started playing his innings lowering the required run rate.
RR bowlers going for runs
RR bowlers weren’t good in this match as they usually are. Except for Yuzvendra Chahal, who had a phenomenal economy of 3.75 only, all the other bowlers went for runs. The next lowest economy of an RR bowler is 8.50, is Trent Boult. R.Ashwin, Prasidh Krishna, and Navdeep Saini all went for runs, which is a major factor for RR losing the match. Generally, all the RR bowlers together have not been beaten up by the batsmen in this season, till now.
