Ralf Rangnick has offered his advice to Manchester United‘s management as he attempts to return the Red Devils to the summit of the football mountain.
Rangnick’s Four-Point Plan
Rangnick has advised Manchester United’s board that solving the club’s crisis may take up to three new signings, but only if they recruit to a defined playing philosophy and address the squad’s conspicuous lack of strength and energy.
In November, he was called in as an interim manager for the rest of the season, to give the German a consultant role at the end of season. It’s unclear whether the 63-year-old will take on that post, what it will entail if he does, and how it will interact with football director John Murtough’s responsibilities.
With these in consideration, the former RB Leipzig sports director claimed that after four months in charge of the first team, he has already made a list of suggestions to the Old Trafford leadership ahead of the commencement of a massive, long-term renovation. According to The Telegraph, these include:
- Aping Manchester City and Liverpool by recruiting unconditionally to the new manager’s specific playing style.
- After establishing that this group is too soft physically, the primary priority should be to recruit physical, aggressive guys.
- Before signing, a player’s “DNA” is thoroughly profiled.
- Accepting it could take three transfer windows to fix if the strategy is implemented.

That’s why putting in Rangnick as an interim manager first was such a fantastic idea, as he gets a thorough insight of the squad and then knows how to address the difficulties moving ahead once he is promoted upstairs. The issue with Man United right now is that we can’t be certain that this is their thinking.
According to the Telegraph, Erik ten Hag, who has a release clause of just over £1.7 million in his Ajax contract, is the new favorite ahead of Mauricio Pochettino of Paris Saint-Germain to take over as United’s permanent manager when Rangnick’s interim role ends at the end of the season.
It remains to be seen whether the United hierarchy will heed the German’s proposals now that he is in charge behind the scenes.
