The recent addition to the glamorous squad of PSG is the Argentine superstar Lionel Messi. The team has players like Sergio Ramos, Kylian Mbappe, Neymer and Gianluigi Donnarumma. There’s a hike in the club’s wage bill to 300m euros net.
Will the Club be able to keep the star players?
There arises some questions for a club earning a total of above 300m euros. Will it be under UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations?
The FFP review will be in the scene as the 2021/22 session ends, instead of the wage bill review occurring before the beginning of the season, as is the scenario in LaLiga Santander. Absence and the salary Cup in Ligue 1 due to the presence of LaLiga Santander since 2013, is the other reason behind it.
The Argentine star and former Barcelona player, Messi is the highest earner in the squad with a staggering annual salary of 40m euros. Neymar follows him in the list on 36.8 m euros with Mbappe 25m euros net.
The former Real Madrid superstar Sergio Ramos will earn 20m euros net. Other star players like Angel Di Maria, Keylor Navas, Presnel Kimpembe, Donnarumma, Marquinhos, and Mauro Icadi will be earning between 10 and 15m euros each. Nasser-AL-Khelaifi has put tremendous effort into developing this star-studded team. However, the FFP requirements have put an uncertainty of whether the club could keep all the star players.
What Real Madrid believes?
Real Madrid believes this can be a situation to sign Kylian Mbappe. Bayern Munich might put pressure on UEFA to impose the FFP regulations strictly. Javier Tebas, the LaLiga president has stated that a ‘not-so-smoother’ road lies in front of the Parisian club.
Tebas feels PSG must balance their number a lot. He thinks it to be a complicated situation for the club and they will have to let a player go!
