Barcelona’s Oscar Mingueza has finished his transfer to Celta Vigo, ending his time at Blaugranas. The defender has signed a contract until 2026 and is looking to start his career afresh in his new club.
Oscar Mingueza, who can play either right-back or center-back, has signed a four-year deal with Celta after making 66 first-team appearances for Barca.
About the Contract of Transfer of Oscar Mingueza
Barca has not yet disclosed details of the deal, but Celta is expected to pay Oscar Mingueza around 3 million Euros with Barca retaining a portion of the profits from future sales and a buy-back option.
Mingueza has also earned a cap for Spain, making his debut against Lithuania in June last year. He was also selected to represent Spain at last year’s Tokyo Olympics.
Mingueza was promoted from the Barca B-team under Ronald Koeman and put in solid performances, but was sidelined by the mid-season arrival of Xavi Hernández, who kept him out of the United States squad for the pre-season tour.
He was widely criticized by the Culers for his performance on the pitch and was eventually transferred. The transfer fee is rumored to be less than his 5 million Euros, and Celta Vigo also included a resale clause in the deal.
Despite the criticisms he faced, the 23-year-old has the ability to play the backline field. He is expected to be placed at right-back under Eduardo Coudet after a busy summer transfer window for the club.
Migueza’s long passes and crossing ability didn’t go unnoticed, every time he played right-back for Barcelona. This allows coaches to use its versatility in a variety of tactical approaches. At 23, the Spaniard is still young and could develop into a better player. The development of his will be surely seen anytime soon in recent time.
