NBA 2K24 will have a significant feature that gamers have been requesting for years, according to 2K and Visual Concepts’ announcement. The NBA 2K24 game will be the first in the series to support cross-play, which allows gamers on different platforms to play multiplayer together. However, there is a significant catch. The fact that 2K and Visual Concepts aren’t fully incorporating crossplay in NBA 2K24 may not come as a surprise after all the time we’ve spent waiting for it. Only two platforms will be able to interact with each other throughout the basketball game.
For years running, crossplay has been one of the most often requested features for the NBA 2K series. Fans speculate that the annual release cycle of the NBA 2K brand is the reason Visual Concepts took so long to incorporate crossplay. The MyTEAM cross-progression feature in NBA 2K23 lets PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S while keeping their wallets and microtransactions.
The franchise will advance further with NBA 2K24 thanks to shared play across platforms.
In a brand-new teaser, 2K and Visual Concepts revealed that NBA 2K24 will be the first title in the franchise to support crossplay. When 2K24 releases on September 8, cross-play will be instantly accessible, but there is a price.
The caveat is that not all platforms—or even the majority of supported platforms—will enable crossplay for 2K24. Only the 2K24 versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have crossplay been made possible by Visual Concepts.
