Table-toppers Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians who are at the bottom of the IPL points table collided on Friday at the Brabourne Stadium and made the clash an absolute blockbuster. MI who has been knocked out of the tournament defeated Gujarat Titans in an absolute thriller, and once again it was proved why it is called the Incredible Premier League. MI batted first and put up 177 for the loss of 6 wickets, and limited within 172, taking 5 of their wickets.
Opening partnership by Mumbai Indians
The opening pair of Mumbai Indians, i.e., Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma haven’t been in such good form this season. But in this match, they gave a good start to their team which paved the path towards building a good score to defend. Ishan Kishan scored 45 of 29 balls with 5 fours and a six, and Rohit Sharma scored 43 of 28 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Also, Tim David at the end played a speedy knock of 44 of 21 deliveries with 2 fours and 4 sixes, making the score 177.
Impressive bowling by Murugan Ashwin
The openers of Gujarat Titans, including Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill, were playing with ease, and it seemed like they will chase down the score soon. The former scored 55 of 40, whereas the latter registered 52 of 36 balls. However, MI’s star spinner Murugan Ashwin with his terrific leg-spin, got rid of both of them, releasing the pressure upon Mumbai Indians.
Brilliant last over by Daniel Sams
It was indeed an absolute thriller to watch, where the match came to a position where GT needed 9 runs from the last over. From that situation, Daniel Sams, who has been in quite good form this season, gave only 18 runs in his 3 overs in the match and conceded only 3 runs in the last over leading MI towards victory by 5 runs.
