The Italian star used to be a long jumper, initially. He narrowly managed to pass the 10-second barrier even a few days back. Born to an American father and an Italian mother in El Paso, Texas, he didn’t spend much time in the United States. Moreover, he was a regular visitor of Italy and since then dreamt of representing the nation on the world stage.
Even during the concluding stages of the Olympic cycle, he didn’t indicate anything that could show any possibility of his outstanding performance in the Olympics. It was in the European Championships that he landed gold over 60 meters. Jacobs simply left everyone stunned after being the world runner-up in the 4*100 relay in May.

In the Tokyo Olympics, Jacobs has set a different level with his jaw-dropping win. Breaking a European record, he became the first European athlete to claim the Gold in 100 m race, after Linford Christie at Barcelona 1992.
