The speedest man in the world is the Italian star, Lamont Marcell Jacobs. He won the Gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the men’s 100 m race, last Sunday. It is for the first time in History that Italy landed a Gold medal in this event. Being a long jumper in the previous days, his story is sure to leave you thrilled.
The Story of Marcell Jacobs
The inspiring story of Marcel Jacobs is enough to surprise you. Read on, how he became the first Italian to win a Gold in the Olympics in the 100 m race.
The Italian star used to be a long jumper, initially. He narrowly managed to pass the 10-second barrier even a few days back. Born to an American father and an Italian mother in El Paso, Texas, he didn’t spend much time in the United States. Moreover, he was a regular visitor of Italy and since then dreamt of representing the nation on the world stage.
Even during the concluding stages of the Olympic cycle, he didn’t indicate anything that could show any possibility of his outstanding performance in the Olympics. It was in the European Championships that he landed gold over 60 meters. Jacobs simply left everyone stunned after being the world runner-up in the 4*100 relay in May.
Terrific Win in the Summer Olympics
In the Tokyo Olympics, Jacobs has set a different level with his jaw-dropping win. Breaking a European record, he became the first European athlete to claim the Gold in 100 m race, after Linford Christie at Barcelona 1992.
Jacobs says that it was always his dream to win a gold medal in the Olympics. He further added it’s a dream come true moment for him.
