After Newcastle United’s takeover by Saudi Public Investment Fund, Leeds United are in line to become the next richest club in the Premier League.
Earlier, Manchester City was bought by City Football Group, who made many investments in the club and now they are one of the most successful clubs in the Premier League in recent times. Newcastle United are set to follow that same blueprint after the massive takeover by Saudi Public Investment Fund.
As of now, Leeds United’s 44 percent are owned by the 49ers Enterprises, which also own the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers franchise. The American enterprise could buy the 100 percent stake of Leeds United for 470 million euros. They have until 2024 to complete the deal for that fee, according to The Athletic.
49ers Enterprises can takeover Leeds United
If the takeover becomes successful, Leeds United will become the next richest Premier League club. The Elland Road side, which has a rich Premier League history will once again become a club capable of competing for the Premier League title.
Currently, Leeds United are 15th in the Premier League table after 15 games, six points above the relegation zone. They will need to turn around their form in order to finish in the top half of the table.
