Three Factors that Helped KKR Defeat SRH by 54 Runs
We will closely analyze the three important factors that had a positive influence on KKR today to win the match.
The Andre Russell Show: The day belonged to Andre Russell as the big man was sensational both with the bat and the ball. KKR was in a troubling position having lost 5 wickets for just 94 runs. It was then the West Indian power with great support from Sam Billings (34 off 29) that put up a 63-run partnership for the sixth wicket and helped pass KKR a decent total. Russel’s three sixes off Sundar’s last over set a tone.
Superb Bowling Attack: KKR bowlers were superb today as each of them was economical and picked up wickets. Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakraborty picked up 1 wicket each while Tim Southee picked up 2. Russell was great with the ball too, picking up 3 wickets, and conceding just 22 runs. The great display of the bowling unit didn’t let the opponent batters build partnerships that were most needed to chase the total. Only Abhishek Sharma looked decent on the pitch scoring 43 off 28 balls. Aiden Markam (32 off 25) gave a nice try too however was sent back to the pavilion by Umesh.
Iyer’s Captaincy: Shreyas Iyer’s decent captaincy had a great impact on the match as the skipper was very calculative with his bowlers. The execution was top-notch and his bowlers didn’t disappoint the captain.
With this win, KKR jumps to the sixth place in the points table and keeps alive the playoff hopes.
