Karim Benzema and Lucas Hernandez are still on the Squad List
Like Karim Benzema, his teammate Lucas Hernandez is suffering an injury too. Despite not featuring in a single game, both players have been named in the French squad. Since no replacement was announced for the respective players, they’re still a part of the squad and have a chance to get the winner’s medal if France defends their title.
Karim Benzema was sure that he’d be replaced after his injury in the national side. He said after his injury,
“In my life, I have never given up, but tonight I have to think about the team, as I have always done, so reason tells me to leave my place to someone who can help our group to have a great World Cup.”
France announced a replacement for Nkunku
RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku suffered a sprained knee during a practice session with the national side. He was replaced by Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.
