Earlier it was reported, Karim Benzema has been ruled out of the Qatar World Cup owing to a thigh injury. It was a big blow for the fans and the third World Cup miss for the 2022′ Ballon d’Or winner. However, there’s some good news for the fans. The French side hasn’t replaced the star forward in their 26-man squad, and that makes him remain a member of the team for the World Cup.
Benzema is still a part of the Qatar World Cup 2022
As things have it, Benzema is still a member of the French side for the FIFA 2022 World Cup. So, the attacker will be eligible for a medal if France wins the tournament, despite not appearing in the tournament for a minute. This seems to put a big smile on his fans’ faces.
A point worth mentioning here is, Brazil is the only team along with Italy to have defended their titles in consecutive World Cups.
Les Bleus’ have an intense attack and it’s totally fine for them to not name a replacement for Benzema. Their attacking talents were on fire during their match against Australia on November 22 (Tuesday). They won the game 4-1.
Just one FIFA appearance for the star Forward
Irrespective of being a sensational player of his time, Benzema has had only one FIFA appearance in his career. He was a part of the 2014 Brazil World Cup but was not picked in the 2018 squad. So, he missed the great chance of lifting the greatest football trophy for this national team.
In 2014, Benzema had a decent experience when he planted the ball thrice inside the goal. France lost to Germany in the quarterfinals and the latter eventually emerged as the champions.
