Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s founder and CEO, has stated that JioMart on WhatsApp in India will present a significant potential for the premium messaging industry as Meta intensifies its monetisation campaign throughout its family of applications. Zuckerberg mentioned sponsored messaging as another area that the firm is beginning to take advantage of during the Q3 earnings call.

“We launched JioMart on WhatsApp in India, and it’s our first end-to-end shopping experience that shows the potential for chat-based commerce through messaging,” Zuckerberg told analysts.

“So between click-to-messaging and paid messaging, I am confident that this is going to be a big opportunity,” he added.

Users may shop from the e-commerce platform JioMart utilising WhatsApp conversation thanks to an end-to-end shopping experience that Meta and Jio Platforms launched in August.

Customers will be able to shop on JioMart, add items to their carts, and send payments all from within WhatsApp thanks to the improved experience.

“Excited to launch our partnership with JioMart in India. This is our first-ever end-to-end shopping experience on WhatsApp — people can now buy groceries from JioMart right in a chat,” Zuckerberg had said in an earlier Facebook Post.

“Business messaging is an area with real momentum and chat-based experiences like this will be the go-to way people and businesses communicate in the years to come,” he added.

According to Zuckerberg, the business is currently laying the groundwork for scaling its paid messaging ambition. The JioMart-WhatsApp launch is a component of a strategic alliance between Meta and Jio Platforms to quicken India’s digital transformation and give individuals and organisations of all sizes the chance to communicate in novel methods and support national economic prosperity. By just sending “Hi” to the JioMart number on WhatsApp, users may begin buying on JioMart through the messaging app.
