Mumbai Indians has always been a team that didn’t start well at the starting of the Indian Premier League but has come back brilliantly with their exceptional performance. However, this year the thing has been a bit different. In the first phase of the IPL, they have been consistently in the top 4.
But with the start of the second phase, there hasn’t been any single match that they have won. And with their loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium, it became their third consecutive defeat in this league.
The match
The match started with the innings of RCB, where Virat Kohli did a half-century again scoring 51 of 42 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Srikar Bharat coming at third also batted well along with Glenn Maxwell who played a magnificent inning of 56 from 37 balls. RCB finished at a score of 165 for 5 wickets, where Jasprit Bumrah picked up three important wickets of Padikkal, Maxwell, and AB de Villiers.
In reply, Mumbai Indians started well with De Kock scoring 24 of 23 and Rohit Sharma 43 of 28. Though no one apart from the two MI openers, couldn’t even get past the 10 run mark. Both Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled well picking up 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Also, Maxwell picked up 2 wickets with Sirag getting one.
And the most terrific thing that happened in today’s MI vs RCB match is that Harshal Patel scored a hattrick. At first, he dismissed Hardik Pandya with a catch to Virat Kohli. Next, he dismissed Pollard with a good Yorker and getting him bowled. Then he bowled the final ball to Rahul Chahar which was an LBW. In the end, the man of the match award was given to Glen Maxwell considering both his batting and bowling performance.
