CSK fans along with millions of cricket lovers got a sigh of relief when MS Dhoni declared that he won’t retire now. On Friday Dhoni declared left the whole world with a positive note regarding his future at the Indian Premier League. Though there was no clear indication from Mahi Bhai ahead of the 2022 IPL Mega auctions.
The CSK skipper only stated that his future in the IPL counts upon the arrival of the two new IPL teams which the BCCI will include next year. It is all about what is best for CSK and not only about him – he stated on the IPL 2021 final post-match presentation ceremony.
MS Dhoni on his future
A detailed description of what Dhoni said is that the CSK management needs to decide what is best for the franchise. It is not all about him being in the top three or four, whatever number of players CSK retains in the upcoming auction.
It is about making a strong core and assuring that the team won’t suffer as each team will come to the Mega auction with a strategy to make a team for the next 10 years. From 2008 also, the core group carried the franchise for more than 10 years. The management has to look at the players who will be able to deliver well for the team in the next 10 years.
MSD for CSK
MSD captained this team since the beginning of the India Premier League in 2008. Since then CSK has been one of the best teams in the league, qualifying 11 times for the playoffs, and 9 times in the final. Out of these, they have emerged victoriously in 4 finals, including 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. Besides MS Dhoni has also given CSK two Champions League trophies in 2010 and 2014 respectively.
