Chennai Super Kings enters the IPL final for the 9th time in the history of this league, as they defeat Delhi Capitals in qualifier 1 at the Dubai International stadium. It was overall a good thriller game to wat, however, MS Dhoni at the end, made it look easy. CSK gained victory over DC by 4 wickets with 2 balls left to book their spot for the IPL final which will take place on October 15.
The match
The match kicked off with the Delhi Capitals batting at first. Prithvi Shaw gave a good start to his team and was scoring runs at regular intervals. He scored 60 of 34 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer couldn’t stand long for today following Axar Patel who came to bat at number 4.
However Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer took the lead with the former scoring 51 of 35 with 3 fours and 2 sixes, and the latter scored 37 of 24 balls with 3 fours and a six. This partnership helped to reach a total of 172 with the loss of 5 wickets, which is considered to be a good score at the Dubai grounds.
In reply, CSK as usual started brilliantly. They came to the playoffs losing all their 3 remaining matches of the group league. Though it didn’t reflect on their game. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 70 of 50 with 5 fours and 2 sixes, and Robin Uthappa coming at number 3 scored 63 off 44 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Also at the end, Dhoni played a cameo inning of 18 from 6 balls with 3 fours and a six, helping his team to get past the victory line with ease.
Who will CSK meet in the final?
With this win, CSK has moved to the final of IPL 2021. Delhi Capitals will be again seen in qualifier 2 against either RCB or KKR, whoever wins the eliminator on Monday. Whoever gains victory in qualifier 2, will lock horns with CSK on October 15, at the Dubai International stadium.
