Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Stadium by 3 wickets and with 2 balls left. Again it was a low-scoring match where fans got to see only one half-century scored by Ambati Rayudu. Both of the teams have qualified for the playoffs, and the match didn’t have much value. But it was indeed very necessary to see who among DC and CSK would finish as the table toppers. Being in the top 2 isn’t different, but being at the top is certainly an honorable achievement to secure.

    The match

Chennai batted first and put up a score of 136 for the loss of 5 wickets. None of the openers including Gaikwad or Du Plessis could stand for long along with Robin Uthappa who played first in the second phase of the Indian Premier League. Only Rayudu played a good knock of 55 of 43 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes which helped CSK to reach a total of 136.

In reply, DC also didn’t seem confident as they also collapsed in their batting. Though a target of 137 was still not a big deal to defeat them and they chased down the total in 19.4 overs. Small innings from the DC batsman helped them to get past the total. Among them, the mentionable scores are Shikhar Dhawan who scored 39 of 35 with 3 fours and 2 sixes, and Shimron Hetmyer, scoring 28 of 18 with 2 fours and a six.

The race of staying at the top

With this win, Delhi Capitals gained two more points to get at the top of the points table with 20 points overall. DC and CSK both have one more match to play at the group stage. To remain in the first position all that DC needs to do is to win their next game.
