Chennai Super Kings picked up an easy win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore with defeating them by 6 wickets. There has been a battle between CSK and DC since the start of IPL Phase 2 for the first position in the points table. With DC’s win in their last match they moved at the top, and with CSK’s win today versus RCB they moved at the top again, with 14 points.
The match
RCB started brilliantly at first and till the power play, they scored more than 50 runs without a loss of a wicket. Both the openers including Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored 53 of 41 and 70 of 50 respectively.
However, since they got dismissed, no one was able to touch the 15 run mark. The star wicket-taker of CSK, Dwayne Bravo gave his team the first breakthrough by dismissing Virat Kohli. Padikkal’s 70 helped Bangalore to reach a normal score of 156 with a loss of 6 wickets.
In reply, CSK started brilliantly from the start. Though none of them played a big inning, it was a team game from the batsmen which helped them to chase down the total in 18.1 overs. The two CSK openers Gaikwad and De Plessis scored 38 of 26 and 31 and 26. Next Moeen Ali, Bravo, Rayudu, and last but not the least MS Dhoni finished the game.
Performance by CSK
CSK has been exceptional in its performance in the IPL 2021. In the 2020 season, they didn’t have a good time, but fought back brilliantly and made the fans of CSK feel that old essence which they once used to do. Chennai Super Kings has also been a strong contender for the playoffs now. At present, it is hardly impossible for them to didn’t qualify for the finals.
