Sunil Chhetri, born on 3rd August 1984, in Secunderabad, India, turned 37 today. He is the captain of the India national football team, and plays league football for Bengaluru FC, as a striker. He is the most capped player, and also remains among the all-time top goal scorers.

Sunil Chhetri is among those great Indian footballers, under which reign we have seen the rise of Indian football. Though India is yet to play the FIFA World Cup, still, he has made India proud in his profession.
He made his debut on March 30th, 2004, when he was the captain of the Under-20 team. He led his team to victory by a score of 1-0 against the Under-23 of Pakistan in the SAF games of 2004.
His first international debut was against Columbia, where India defeated their opponents by a massive score of 6-0, in the 2007 Nehru Cup, with Sunil Chhetri scoring 2 of them.
In this time, Chhetri earned huge popularity and helped India to win the Nehru Cup, 3 times including the years 2007, 2009, and 2012. He also gave India the SAFF Championship of 2011. Moreover, he was led his nation to victory in the 2008 AFC cup challenge, with him being one of the best players in the tournaments.

Chhetri has been the AIFF player of the year five times in his career, including 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2017. With 56 goals in his 97 appearances, he is one of the top goal scorers of all time.
