India was set to go to New Zealand to play an ODI series at New Zealand, however, the tour has been postponed until the next year. As per the New Zealand cram cricket schedule, the reason behind this action is nothing but the ongoing global pandemic COVID 19.
There were 3 one day internationals that the men in blues will play in the next year. Also, they are scheduled to play the games under the new ODI super league of 2023. Some sources state that the main reason behind this is BCCI themselves are not able to window from team India to go to New Zealand.
Reports state that Virat Kohli’s men will lock horns with the Kiwis on ICC’s future tour program which will be part of the World Cup super league. The league will be played as qualifying matches, for the next World Cup in 2023.
NZ’s tour of India
The series in which the black caps will come to play against India will feature three t20 internationals along with 2 test matches. NZ will lock horns with Bangladesh, South Africa, and also the Netherlands Africa this season. In addition to that, the women’s sides will go face to face with the White Ferns which will take place between April 4 to March 3, at the 50 over world cup.
All these schedules of New Zealand signify that they won’t get free soon and probably they will get free during early December and spend the isolation process for some time to get fully free until the Christmas of the next year.
T20 and IPL
Also, the series can’t take place this year as well. The Indian Premier League is kicking off from September 19th and T20 WC will commence soon the IPL finishes from 17 October. Hence it is a packed-up schedule for both teams.
