Team India has once again proved why they are the favorites to win the ICC Cricket World Cup this year, as they registered a dominating win over Afghanistan and secured the win by 8 wickets. Credit goes to the brilliant ton of the Hitman as well as the skipper of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma, for which they were able to make the win with nearly 100 balls remaining. Being the host nation, they are automatic favorites and in terms of form, they have hardly any match.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat, and things went decent for them. They put up 272 on the board, which is indeed a fighting total, especially with the bowling attack they have. Though this year, the pitch of Arun Jaitley Stadium has been a 300, 400 score, the Afghans’s bowling lineup has been good over the years to give a fight for this total.
However, things went in vain when the Men in Blues came to bat in the likes of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Though both the batters started their innings on a slow strike rate, but India’s skipper soon changed gear and started to rain fours and sixes in the ground and put up a one-man show for a long. Ishan Kishan also joined the party after some time and scored a decent 47. Rohit Sharma reached his hundred in just 63 balls and ended up at 131. Also, Virat Kohli’s well-made half-century and Shreyas Iyer’s support helped India to secure the victory with ease.

Rohit Sharma’s dominating performance has also reflected how good the hands-on which the Indian Cricket team is. The Indian skipper had been out of form for a long and regained his form in the Asia Cup this year, at present, he has regained his form fully back and is playing like he used to do. He scored a total of 131 runs in just 84 balls with 16 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of 155.95. He eventually received the Player of the match award.
Big match against Pakistan
India has their big match against their arch-rivals Pakistan and having the skipper is going to positively impact the rest of the team. Though it is still unknown whether Shubhman Gill will be able to play in the match or not, reports state that he will join the squad ahead of the match. On the other hand, Pakistan is also coming to play this match with a win over Sri Lanka, and they have also showcased their incredible form. So, indeed arguably the biggest match of the World Cup will be a treat to watch.
