According to the latest but unsurprising report, India has the highest mobile data consumption rate which stands at about 11 to 12 GB per person a month on the planet.

The report also claims that India has as many as 25 million new smartphone customers each quarter which makes the country a flourishing floor to launch digital initiatives.

“Today we have 1.18 billion mobile connections, 700 million Internet users, and 600 million smartphones, which are increasing 25 million per quarter. We have a strong connectivity base today,” said Ram Sewak Sharma, chief government of the National Health Authority of India stated.

He also further stated that India has the highest data consumption which is about 12 GB per individual a month.

Fortunately, in our country, in the last 6-7 years, we have seen immense progress in the connectivity side. Some of the Digital India programs envisaged by Prime Minister would materialize while many of them such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Aadhaar and Cowin has already transformed the lives of people.”

the highest official further states that since India has the visible absence of pervasive fiber connectivity, but the nation has ample wi-fi connectivity for launching new digital initiatives. This is because the telecom service operators of the country have already moved to fourth-generation or 4G networks with their data-first method and are already gearing up for a 5G revolution in the country.

All telcos have moved onto the 4G platform. People are making video calls and watching films since data rates are the cheapest in the country,” Sharma added.

The arrival of 4G which was initiated by Reliance Jio’s ambitious free offering of data incidentally did not cause an intense price war resulting in cost-effective data tariff within the nation. But, it came as a boon to the country’s data users as it hastened the incumbent’s migration to subsequent technology expertise.

India’s data consumption is predicted to be doubled to almost 25 GB per individual a month by 2025.
