India ended their Tokyo Olympics campaign on a high note, by winning a total of 7 medals, the highest ever by them, in their 17 days of the tour at this mega event. On Saturday India won two consecutive medals. Bajrang Punia won one in wrestling which was a bronze medal, and Neeraj Chopra ended India’s campaign with his excellence by winning a gold medal in the Javelin throw. Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu gave India its first Olympic medal at the Tokyo Olympics. She became second and won the silver medal in women’s 49 kg category weightlifting. She lifted 202 Kg during her successful attempts at the event.
PV Sindhu
The badminton queen of India, PV Sindhu won the second medal for India, which was a bronze in Badminton. With this, she became the second Indian athlete to win two individual Olympic medals. Sushil Kumar did it first in wrestling at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
Lovlina Borgohain
Lovlina Borgohain went to her first Olympic campaign, and she performed efficiently to win the third Olympic medal among the Indian contingent. The 23rd-year-old won a bronze medal in Women’s Boxing welterweight.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya
Ravi Kumar Dahiya became the second Indian wrestler to take part in wrestling in Olympic Games, the first being Sushil Kumar. He made his nation proud by winning a silver at the Tokyo Olympics.
The Indian Men’s Hockey Team
The Indian Men’s Hockey team won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and ended their 41-year Olympic medal drought. The last time they won was in 1980, which was a gold medal.
Bajrang Punia
Bajrang Punia mesmerized everyone with his class as he won the bronze medal, defeating all odds, last Saturday in 65 kg Men Freestyle . Punia’s knee injury could hardly stop him from reaching the prestigious third spot after a one-sided battle against Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov. Surely, the youngster has a bright future that awaits him!
Neeraj Chopra
Neeraj Chopra created a record after he got the first position in men’s Javelin throw, gaining the first-ever gold medal for India in athletics in Olympic history. The 23-year-old star threw a stunning distance of 87.58 m to ensure his name in the first place.
