August 2020 Google launched its detailed street maps feature, which will soon be available with 50 more cities by the end of this year— including Berlin, São Paulo, Seattle, and Singapore. We can also see where sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian islands are, along with the shape and width of a road to scale. This information can help pedestrians plan the most suitable route, especially if they use a wheelchair or stroller.

According to research from experts at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, that at the hard-braking moments (suppose imagine you’re driving to meet a friend, and when you approach with a busy intersection, the traffic slows suddenly, and you have to slam on your brakes) — incidents along a route that causes a driver to decelerate sharply — can be a leading indicator of a car crash.

By that, Google Maps will reduce your chances of having hard-braking moments. Every time we can able to get the right directions in Maps, which decreases the accidents. Google believes that these updates can eliminate 100 million hard-braking events in routes driven with Google Maps each year, and we can also get faster from A to B more safely using Google Maps.
