    FIFA can take transwomen out of soccer

    FINA recently banned transgender athletes from competing in the women’s category and made one of the most controversial decisions that FIFA could emulate, according to Reuters reports.

    As stated by a Reuters reporter, “FIFA is currently reviewing its gender eligibility regulations in consultation with experts. Due to the nature of the process, FIFA is not in a position to comment on the details of the proposed amendments to the existing regulations”.

    The final decision is upto the federations bow

    According to the report, FIFA is in the middle of a consultation process for transgender soccer players to make the best decisions when participating in women’s tournaments.

    For best results, they plan to bring together experts on a variety of topics, including legal, medical, scientific, and even human rights experts. They will also consult with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

    “Until evidence determines otherwise, athletes should not be considered to have an unfair or disproportionate competitive advantage due to their variations in sex, physical appearance ,and/or transgender status”, stated the last year’s IOC statement and leave decisions about trans athletes to all federations around the world.

    Megan Rapinoe in favor of the trans athletes

    USA Women’s National Team Emblem Megan Rapinoe believes that inclusion is paramount and there is no evidence that these athletes harm other professionals whose gender identity affirms their biological sex.

    The Football Association has not yet commented on the participation of players of different genders, but the decision to consult with another person has already caused a lot of controversies.

    Furthermore, her comments come brought huge uproar amongst people, with FINA’s new directive banning transgender women from participating in swimming competitions. It is to be seen whether FIFA ultimately declares their tentative decision or not.
