Bobby Marks reports that Doncic would be in the race to sign a five-year super extension budgeted at 318 million dollars.

In the United States, they point out that Luka Doncic has had massive achievements, like being a four-time member of the NBA Ideal Five (2020, ’21, ’22 and ’23) before he reached 25. This fest was earlier achieved by only Kevin Durant, Tim Duncan and Max Zaslofsky. Doncic is the only player following LeBron James to reach 9,000 points and 2,500 assists before 25. Theoretically, he couldn’t sign such a contract extension, as he has only been with the NBA for six years, but the former Real Madrid player stands as an exception.
In case Doncic was named in the ‘NBA’s Ideal Five, ‘ he would satisfy the criteria of being ‘All-NBA’ in two out of the three preceding seasons, being eligible to sign a deal extension in 2025 that would be effective for the 2026-27 season.
Further, the US Network notes that if there’s an increase in the salary cap by 10% over the next three years, Doncic’s extension would stand at 367.5 million dollars, and the concluding year of his contract would stand at 83.6 million dollars. The last season saw Doncic averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists in the NBA.
In 2018, Doncic declared for the NBA draft, where the Atlanta Hawks drafted him and then traded him to the Dallas Mavericks. He was a unanimous selection to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and won Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season.
The following four years saw him being selected to the NBA All-Star game and named to the All-NBA First Team. He stands as the Mavericks’ franchise leader in career triple-doubles.
