The new Lightfall expansion for Destiny 2 is only a few days away from release, and based on what developer Bungie has shown so far, it appears to be one of the most expansive Destiny DLCs ever made. Lightfall is set to kick off Destiny 2 Year 6 with a bang, with a brand new location, campaign, and raid to enjoy, as well as new quests, loot to hunt, and impressive Strand subclasses.
Bungie has revealed important details about the planned rollout of Destiny 2 Lightfall DLC, including when players can play, how much the expansion will cost, and more.
Destiny 2: Lightfall is the seventh major expansion for Destiny 2, and is primarily set in a futuristic Neptunian city called Neomuna. There, its citizens and a pair of nanotech-enhanced humans known as Cloud Striders are fighting against both the Vex and the Darkness. The Tormentors, juggernaut shock troops powered by Darkness Pyramid tech that serve the Witness, and the Shadow Legion, a faction of Darkness-worshipping Cabal that serves the Witness’ new Disciple, Emperor Calus, are two examples.
Guardians will travel to Neomuna to assist the Cloud Striders in repelling the invaders with their Light and a new Darkness power called Strand, which is primarily themed around suspending enemies in midair and unraveling enemies at the molecular level.

The Lightfall expansion, like the vast majority of Destiny 2 updates and releases, is set to be available at the game’s weekly reset time on Tuesday. Lightfall will be available to play on February 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET.
