The 2021 IPL final is set at the Dubai International Stadium, between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR beat DC by 3 wickets with a ball left in a nail-biting encounter at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It was a fantastic game of cricket with thrilling competitions.
In the end, it was the Knights who held their nerves and won the match. The two-time IPL winner KKR will be taking on the three-time IPL title holders CSK on 15th October. Fans are super excited to see a mouth-watering battle this Friday.
A breath-taking Qualifier 2
It was a low scoring thriller again at Sharjah but still it entertained the cricket fans at its level best. After being sent to bat by the Riders, Delhi set up a total of 135 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. Shaw, Iyer, Hetmyer helped their team cross the 130 run mark. Chakravarthy picked up two wickets while both Ferguson and Mavi picked 1 each.
KKR got a smooth start with Venkatesh Iyer smashing 55 runs in just 41 balls. However, things started to take a worse turn for them, as the Capitals started to fight back magnificently. From a scenario of 13 required runs in 25 balls with 8 wickets remaining, KKR went all the way to 6 required runs in just 2 balls with 3 wickets remaining.
The Capital’s skipper Rishab Pant handed the last over to experienced R Ashwin and his back-to-back dismissals of Shakib and Narine were about to turn the results in Delhi’s favor.
However, it was the huge second last ball six from Tripathy that sealed the game and ensured KKR’s entry to the finals. For his exquisite batting performance, Venkatesh Iyer was awarded the Player of the Match.
KKR set to lock horns with CSK
This is the second time in IPL history that KKR will face the Super Kings in the final. The first one was in 2012, where the Knights snatched the victory from the defending champions in the close encounter at the Chipak stadium.
