The 38-year-old former Argentine forward Carlos Tevez is set to begin his managerial career as he signed a contract with the Argentine top-division football club Rosario Central.
Rosario Central is known as one of the oldest Argentine and Latin American teams. The 132-year-old Argentine club has a great history in the sport. The 1995 Copa Conmebol winners have won four Argentine first division trophies.
After their struggles in recent years, Rosario Central won their first Copa Argentina trophy in the 2018 edition. The Academia finished in the 16th position in the Argentine Primera Division 2021. While the Argentine Primera Divison 2022 just started early this month, Central have managed one win and one draw along with two defeats in their first four games.
Carlos Tevez signed a one-year contract with Rosario Central
Since Kily Gonzalez was removed from the managerial role last March, Rosario Central had no permanent manager before their latest new manager announcement. In this tight situation for the club, Carlos Tevez is ready to begin his journey as a football manager. He has signed a one-year managerial contract with the club.
Tevez just announced his retirement from playing. Last Monday, while the hosts Velez Sarsfield handed a 2-0 defeat to Central, Tevez was present at the venue.
Carlos Tevez as a footballer
Carlos Tevez played 76 international matches for the Argentina national football team, where he scored 13 goals and 13 assists.
Starting his senior club career at his native youth academy club, Boca Juniors, in 2001, Tevez later moved to the Brazilian club Corinthians. The Argentine played for the English Premier League clubs West Ham United, Manchester United (on loan) and Manchester City. He was an important member when Manchester United won the UEFA Champions League trophy 2007/08 as he even scored during the penalty shootout in the final of that competition.
Tevez also served for the Italian giants Juventus. He then returned to Boca Juniors twice and also experienced the Chinese Super League for Shanghai Shenhua in the middle period.
During his career, Tevez achieved many successes, both for his teams and himself. He was the leading goal-scorer (8 goals) when Argentina won their first gold medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics.
