    In this perspective of BCCI’s winning the big money of case of Rs.6046, the 9-year-old deals, come up. To go back at that time, it happened like that the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League terminated Deccan Charges from IPL, on 14th September 2012, after the 5th season. It was because the franchise disobeyed the contract terms. However, the franchise challenged the termination then.

    Deccan Charges approached Bombay High Court, where retired Justice C.K. Thakkar, first took the role of an arbitrator. For this, the court also commanded BCCI to give Rs.4800 crore to the DCHL Company in July 2020. After this, the company demanded damage charges, which was a massive amount of Rs.6046 crore, along with interest and charges, as per sources.

    BCCI believed that it was a very good case

    In 2020, while discussing the matter of development, BCCI officially stated that an appeal was on the cards as they staunchly believed the case to be a very good one. However, Deccan Charges is yet to make any official statement on the judgment by the court. At present BCCI’s top official is in Mumbai, to determine the final take on the IPL 2021 dates and schedule and also on the T20 World Cup.
