The BCCI along with the IPL franchises were earlier upset due to the pull-off of many foreign players. In addition to that, another disappointment which came is the back-off of some English players. The official staff of the league has been very much stressed with this backing-off from the foreign players for since long. At present, Chris Woakes from Delhi Capitals, Johnny Bairstow from Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Dawid Malan from Punjab Kings are probably looking to withdraw in the eleventh hour.
A top official of one of the affected franchises said that he spoke to their contracted English player on Thursday evening. The player confirmed that he will come to the UAE on 15th September. Also, the cricketer requested them to make the arrangements for his partner as well. They agreed for the same, but on Saturday he confirmed that he won’t come.
The official also added that they understand that these situations are unprecedented for the players. The cricketers reside in the Bubbles and they also suffer from mental fatigue, they completely understand it. But the players also need to understand that the officials are in the same position too. These issues in the eleventh hour are certainly very difficult to manage.
The remaining English Players
Despite the back-out of some Englishmen at the last moment, other players from England will take part in phase two of the Indian Premier League. They are Eoin Morgan from KKR, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran from CSK, Tom Curran and George Garton from RCB, Sam Billings and Tom Curran from DC, Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan from PBKS, and Jason Roy from SRH.
Apart from the English players, some Australians have also withdrawn from the IPL, though they informed a lot before, including Adam Zampa, Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, and Kyle Richardson, and the franchises signed a replacement in their places.
