    Tottenham Hotspur are going through a tough phase due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, 8 players and 5 staff members have tested positive for the virus. Tottenham Hotspur will play against Rennes in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.

    UEFA’s regulations state that if a team have 13 players available including a goalkeeper among the 25 man squad, the team will have to play the fixture. As of now, 8 players have tested positive.

    So, now if more players test positive and they don’t have 13 players or a goalkeeper available for the match, then the match will have to be postponed. However, all group matches must be completed by 31st December. 2021.

    Conte told reporters in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday: “Eight players and five members of staff but the problem is that every day we’re having people with Covid, people that yesterday weren’t positive and today are and we’re continuing to have contact with. It’s a serious problem,.”

    “Today another player and another member of staff positive. Tomorrow, who? Me? Another member of staff? I want to speak about football. This is not a good thing for you, the fans and staff.”

    “Everyone is a bit scared, we all have families. I ask why? Why? Yesterday we trained and two positives, today we trained and after another two positives. Who next? It’s not right, we’re going home to our families.”

    “We had 11 players available for the match and by the end of the training session today one of the players who would start tomorrow is now positive. It’s scary. We’re all having contact.”

    Tottenham Hotspur need to win their match against Rennes to stand a chance to qualify for the Round of 32 of the UEFA Conference League.
