Alan Wake 2, the cult classic sequel from Remedy Entertainment, has a release date based on the voice actor for the titular character. Alan Wake 2 was revealed at The Game Awards two years ago, and it was a stunning announcement among a deluge of other games at the conference. This sequel was for a cult great game from Remedy Entertainment’s library that many wished to see but never dreamed would happen. After a little more than a decade since the previous game, gamers will return to Bright Falls with a survival horror-inspired twist.
Despite its initial announcement, Remedy Entertainment has released very little gameplay footage of the game. Remedy, on the other hand, has kept fans updated on what to expect with regular updates.
The most recent word on Alan Wake 2 was that it would be released this year, with Tero Virtala, the game’s CEO, stating that the game had also entered its last stage of production earlier this April. According to Alan Wake’s voice actor, Matthew Porretta, the game’s release date has also been potentially shortened.
This statement was made during a conversation with Porretta on the Monsters, Madness, and Magic podcast, hosted by Justin Young. In this episode of the podcast, Young mentions Alan Wake as one of his all-time favorite games and wonders how Porretta obtained the role of the author.
Porretta does, however, reveal that he believes Alan Wake 2 will be released later this October.
Porretta reveals that he was working on the sequel with Remedy Entertainment and that he had just returned from Finland the week before the taping of this episode. The release date makes sense because a horror game would be ideal for the Halloween season in 2023.
However, it will have to compete with other major hitters of the season, such as Mortal Kombat 1 or other games that may arrive around the same time. It’s unclear whether this was an internal placeholder date, and it might have been amended between Porretta’s remark and Remedy Entertainment, so take it with a grain of salt for the time being.
Alan Wake 2 is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
