Acer has updated its Swift 5 and Swift 3 notebooks to include Intel’s latest 12th-generation processors. Apart from Intel’s new CPUs, the laptops have a slew of other improvements. Acer’s Swift laptops are small and light and, depending on the model, are aimed at both professionals and casual users. The Swift range is recognised for being updated with new chipsets and features, and the company has been fast to take advantage of Intel’s latest chips.

The Alder Lake P-series and U-series processors from Intel were just introduced, and they are geared for thinner and lighter notebooks. Convertibles, detachable, 2-in-1s, and foldable laptops will all feature them. There are over 20 new CPUs in the portfolio, and Intel estimates that they will power over 250 laptops in 2022. Compared to previous-generation Tiger Lake CPUs, Intel claims that the new 12th-gen processors offer up to a 70% increase in multi-thread performance. The chips use a hybrid x86 architecture, with performance and efficiency cores combined. They use WiFi 6E, Thunderbolt 4.0, and PCIe 4.0 standards in addition to Intel’s Xe integrated graphics.

Intel 12th-generation processors with 12 cores and Intel Iris Xe graphics power the Acer Swift 5. It also has Intel Evo certifications, including quick wake-up from sleep and 10-hour battery life. According to Acer, a 30-minute charge can provide four hours of use. The Swift 5 comes with up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage and 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The 14-inch 16:10 touchscreen display is the Swift 5’s standout feature. Because of the panel’s larger aspect ratio, it’s easier to see more of a document or spreadsheet, and the bottom bezel is slimmer.

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectors are among the Acer Swift 5. Even when the laptop is turned off, one of the USB ports can charge or power gadgets. WiFi 6E is also supported by the Swift 5. A Full HD webcam, a Windows Hello-enabled fingerprint scanner, and a touchpad with Microsoft Precision certification are other features. The laptop weighs 2.65 pounds and is composed of aerospace aluminium.

The Swift 3 is the more affordable model, with up to 2TB of SSD storage. The display has a 16:9 aspect ratio and is available in QHD and FHD resolutions. USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI 2.1 connectors, and WiFi 6E are available for connectivity. Fast charging is available on the Swift 3, providing up to four hours of battery life with a 30-minute charge. A 1080p webcam and DTS audio are also included. While Acer has been quick to unveil the new Swift laptops, these versions will not be available until June 2022. The Swift 5 has a starting price of $1,499, while the Swift 3 has $850.
