342 Industries official delays the release of Halo Infinite Co-op Campaign mode

343 Industries has announced that Season 2 of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will resume on May 3rd, after delaying the game’s timeline in January. Spartan Sigrid Eklund and Spartan Hieu Dinh will be at the focus of Season 2’s plot, titled Lone Wolves.

At the same time, the developer stated that the co-op Campaign mode will not be included in Halo Infinite as anticipated at the start of Season 2. Later in Season 2, 343 Industries intends to include co-op in the Campaign.

The good news is that the aforementioned delay appears to have not affected Forge. 343 Industries has begun testing Forge with a select set of community creators to ensure a flawless experience when creating, sharing, viewing, and playing Forge content.

We’re making great progress on the Campaign network co-op. And to be clear, this work has been occurring in parallel to Season 2 work, as has our work on Forge.

But the reality is that it’s going to take more time to land a high-quality, full-featured 4-player network co-op experience in the massive, wide-open world of Halo Infinite. We’re also committed to a great 2-player split-screen co-op experience on all Xbox consoles, from the original Xbox One through Xbox Series X—and the non-linear, wide-open sections of the Campaign present some big challenges for split-screen that have taken us more time to solve.

All this means that we will not be able to ship Campaign network co-op on May 3rd, at the start of Season 2. But we are still aiming to deliver Campaign network co-op later in Season 2, and we will share a release date for that and split-screen co-op as soon as we can.

Before Forge is officially included in Halo Infinite at some point in Season 3, there will be public flights later this year. There’s no indication yet on when Halo Infinite will have ray tracing. Microsoft disclosed ahead of the launch that it had teamed with AMD to offer that feature later.

In other Halo news, the TV series will air on Paramount+ on March 24th, and Steven Spielberg’s involvement appears to be major.
