She participated in the WTA Tour from 2001 to 2020. She was ranked number one in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association for 21 weeks.
She is one among the ten women and the only Russian to win a career Grand Slam. Maria Sharapova is an Olympic Silver Medalist, too, and has 36 career titles in her cabinet.
She holds the record of ranking at number one just at the age of 18 on 22nd August in 2005. The tennis queen has two French Open titles and one Wimbledon, Australian and US Open.
Throughout her tennis career, Maria Sharapova was a sought-after endorsement figure. She represented numerous brands and appeared in various advertising campaigns.
She had faced controversies in her career when, in 2016, she failed a drug test. She tested positive for taking meldonium, a substance that the World Anti-Doping Agency had banned.
The International Tennis Federation suspended her for two years. However, her sentence was reduced later as it was proved she took it on the doctor’s recommendation and on good faith.

In 2012, she launched her confectionary brand Sugarpova in 2012. It reported an incredible $20m in sales in 2019. In 2014, the tennis queen invested in the sunscreen brand Supergoop.
Later, she made an appearance in the American TV Show Shark Tank in 2020 and joined hands with Mark Cuban to invest $900,000 in a 30% stake in Wearable Wrist and ankle weights company Bala Bangles.
Her studded business career was further glorified as she became one of the Board of Directors of fashion brand Moncler. She is also an advisor to brands Naked Retail and Bright.
