Thierry Henry has claimed he does not believe Zinedine Zidane will be able to potentially coach Juventus as he plans to become France’s manager.
The Real Madrid legend recently hinted at a return to the coaching bench amid a possible managerial vacancy at Allianz Stadium. Juventus got off to a nightmare start to his eighth-place finish in Serie A with 19 points from 11 games this season.
On Tuesday 25 October, after the 4-3 loss to SL Benfica, their elimination from the UEFA Champions League group stage was confirmed. Manager Massimiliano Allegri is under serious pressure and it remains to be seen if the old Lady will unplug him at the end of this season.
Thierry Henry and Zinedine Zidane both played together for the French national team during their prime. The pair enjoyed a brief stint together at Juventus, sharing the spot as teammates 10 times.
Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, Henry seems to have predicted that Zinedine Zidane will turn down a chance to manage the Old Lady. He stated, “He’s been linked to lots of clubs but it’s never happened. I don’t think Zizou will want to do it. I can see Zidane waiting for France’s national team and it would make total sense.”
It would be a surprise if France parted ways with coach Didier Deschamps unless the team is completely out of shape or he himself resigns.
At 54, he still has years ahead as a coach, including winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France. Les Bleus finished runner-up at his UEFA Euro 2016 under his Deschamps, and in 2021 also, he secured victory, winning the UEFA Nations League.
Rio Ferdinand wonders if Juventus might not be attractive enough for Zinedine Zidane
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand doesn’t think a vacancy on the Juventus coaching staff will excite Zinedine Zidane.
The Frenchman has secured three UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga trophies during his two years as Real Madrid’s manager. Ferdinand doesn’t think Juve can offer him a similar platform to win the biggest trophies in their current state. He said, “I’d be surprised if Zidane went to Juve with the team and squad that they’ve got. He’s used to winning trophies and the Champions League.”
Zidane has never held a managerial position at any club other than Real Madrid.
