The enthusiast-grade NEO 17 and NEO 15 laptops from XMG have been made available. They include an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU, an RTX 3080 Ti GPU, and support for liquid cooling. The NEO 17 has undergone a complete makeover and has a new cooling system that can fully utilise the graphics card’s power constraints, a keyboard with CHERRY’s MX ULP Tactile switches, a 16:10 display with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, and a 99 Wh battery (up to the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti).

On the other hand, the NEO 15 is a platform update built on the current chassis. Unlike the Intel model generation E22 announced at the start of the year, the new AMD edition (generation M22 model) is completely VR-compatible and works with the external XMG OASIS laptop liquid cooling system.

Two new versions in XMG’s NEO series, including AMD’s Ryzen 6900HX processor, are built for optimal performance. The NEO 17 has undergone a thorough overhaul and includes a new cooling system that can fully utilise the power limitations of the graphics card, a keyboard with CHERRY’s MX ULP Tactile switches, a 16:10 display with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a 99 Wh battery, and all of these features (up to the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti).

On the other hand, the NEO 15 is a platform update built on the current chassis. Unlike the Intel model generation E22 announced at the start of the year, the new AMD edition (generation M22 model) is completely VR-compatible and works with the external XMG OASIS laptop liquid cooling system.

The new NEO 17 delivers a powerful punch thanks to its AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, which has 8 cores and 16 threads, and its freely programmable GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, 3080, and 3070 Ti graphics cards from Nvidia. Additionally, XMG makes sure the laptop for gaming and content creation is equipped with a strong cooling system: Even the 175-watt TGP of the RTX 3080 Ti with 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM (150 watts plus 25 watts Dynamic Boost 2.0) may be permanently run at full power thanks to five heat pipes, separate heat sinks on all four air outlets, and two 11 mm fans with discreet, low-frequency sound characteristics. With boost peaks of up to 85 watts, the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX also runs constantly at 65 watts when fully loaded.

The laptop can be improved with the XMG OASIS external laptop liquid cooling system, just like the new NEO 15 (M22).

As a result, there are advantages like much quieter operation while under heavy load and cooler CPU and GPU temperatures. While the maximum power limitations are already provided by the Overboost performance profile, which can be selected with the push of a button, the XMG Control Center gives experienced specialists with a wide range of additional tuning options.

One of the first laptops that use the new, fully mechanical MX Ultra Low Profile Tactile switches from CHERRY is the NEO 17 from XMG. These distinguish themselves by having tactile, non-clicking switching properties and a distinctive flat shape with an overall height of just 3.5 mm. Total travel and pre-travel are 1.8 and 0.8 mm, respectively, with an actuation force of 65 cN. Additionally, the switches, which are renowned for their durability (50 million clicks), dazzle with a feeling of typing that is incredibly precise and has distinct feedback. Only the NEO 17’s numeric keypad and upper row of function keys use membrane switches.

The NEO 17 is the first laptop in the XMG lineup to include a 16:10 aspect ratio display. 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 380 nits of brightness, and 99 percent sRGB colour gamut coverage are all features of the 240 Hz WQXGA panel. With these essential features, the display is ideal for both gaming and photo and video editing. Gamers particularly like the 6 millisecond response speed and support for Nvidia G-Sync. Advanced Optimus enables automated display connection switching between the powerful AMD iGPU and the dedicated Nvidia graphics card without the need to restart the computer; manual selection is also an option via a MUX switch in the BIOS.

The NEO 17 has two SO-DIMM sockets that can accommodate up to 64 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, as is customary for XMG, and two M.2 slots for quick PCI Express 4.0 SSDs.

The laptop features all of the large-format connector ports on the rear for external communication. The NEO (M22) with AMD processors is therefore compatible with current VR headsets, in contrast to the NEO (E22) with Intel CPUs. These include the docking option for the XMG OASIS, HDMI 2.1, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and a USB-C 3.2 port with integrated DisplayPort 1.4 stream and connection to the Nvidia graphics card.

The platform update of the new XMG NEO 15 (M22) is built on the same chassis as the previously well-liked XMG NEO 15 (E22), making it more portable than the NEO 17 and more compact. It weighs 2.2 kg (M22). There is also an entry-level model of the laptop with GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. A USB-C 3.2 connector that is connected to the dGPU through DisplayPort is another novel aspect of this device.

The XMG NEO 17 (M22base )’s configuration, which is fully configurable on bestware.com, consists of an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, 16 (2×8) GB of DDR5-4800 memory, a 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD, and a 240 Hz WQXGA IPS display. The starting price is € 2,949 when 19% VAT is added. GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti are two upgrade options for the graphics card, respectively, costing €495 and €879 each.

GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards and an IPS display with a refresh rate of 240 hertz are included in the XMG NEO 15 (M22base )’s configuration, which costs € 2.099. The RTX 3060 is the initial setup; more potent graphics cards, such as the RTX 3070 Ti ($497), RTX 3080 ($992), and RTX 3080 Ti ($1,376), can be configured as desired. The XMG OASIS external liquid cooling system costs an additional € 199.

Pre-orders for both laptops are already being accepted, and shipping is anticipated to begin in early (NEO 17) or mid-September (NEO 15). Despite this, a promotion is currently underway at bestware.com through August 16th: anyone who pre-orders an XMG NEO (M22) or purchases any other laptop during this time will receive a discount of 100 euros on the total price if they select either a Windows 10 or Windows 11 licence (Home or Pro).
